Serengeti, 2008
18" x 72"
This 3 panel oil painting was created in a color palette inspired by the room it would be displayed in. First I researched the Serengeti, a renowned wildlife preserve. I displayed its famous animals, now in danger of extinction, along with the Maasai tribe, now prevented from hunting animals for food or self-preservation, an impact of tourism. Then I created a preliminary sketch in conte crayon based on my impression of an African landscape. The finished painting is now installed in the client's home.
